One of the probable reasons why we find study of of creative thinking, the creative process, and creativity in general, so compelling and interesting is the possibility of our being able to discover some of the underlying operating principles of originality, which in turn might enable each of us to be more creative in all that we do.
No matter what we tackle in life, from the challenges we encounter in our jobs, to our progress in a class about oil painting, we’d all like to be able to come up with novel, unique, imaginative, or “inspired” approaches to the activities in our daily lives.
