Creative Process: The power of clear thinking

What is the most significant attribute humans possess?

It’s our ability to think effectively, suggests Edward De Bono.

But, thinking effectively is more easily talked about than achieved.

We need to become better at thinking, and this takes work, De Bono suggests.

“Usually, the only people who are very satisfied with their thinking skill are those poor thinkers who believe that the purpose of thinking is to prove yourself right _ to your satisfaction.”

“The main difficulty of thinking is confusion,” De Bono says.

This reasoning might seem obvious, but it’s actually complex.

Confusion in thinking results from our tendency to involve too many variables simultaneously within our thinking process, De Bono says.

De Bono developed a method to significantly reduce our confusion, which he discusses in his book Six Thinking Hats (1)

I plan to explore De Bono’s ideas further in some upcoming posts.
