Creative process: How to improve our thinking capability

What’s the best way to improve our thinking process?

(1) Think ourselves into an improved way of thinking?

(2) Act ourselves into an improved way of thinking?

Edward de Bono suggests number 2.

In his book Six Thinking Hats, de Bono says we need to bring a more calculated, intention-based approach to our thinking process.

We do this by acting ourselves into an improved way of thinking.

A “play-acting” approach.

“There is some evidence to suggest that if you assume a smile, then your physiology follows, and you become happier and less liable to be angry,” de Bono says.

The intention and play-acting aspects are achieved through the six-thinking-hat paradigm.

“The six thinking hats provide a tangible way of translating intention into performance,” de Bono writes.

Six hats, six colors:

White hat
Red hat
Black hat
Yellow hat
Green Hat
Blue hat
